Net profit
What is left once every cost and income tax has been taken out of revenue.
Net profit is the bottom line of the financial year: all income less all costs, income tax included. A negative figure is a loss.
Malta charges a company tax on the profit it earns, as it earns it: thirty-five cents in every euro of chargeable income, under article 56(6) of the Income Tax Act (Cap. 123). So the income tax line in a Maltese company's accounts is a real charge for the year, and every one of the 299 company-years on this site that reports the line reports a figure above zero.
Net profit is also the amount by which equity grows over the year, if nothing is paid out.
